Cleaning: Pigment-Type Inkjet Photos

Prints using tiny particles of colorant that rest on the surface of the paper.
  1. For insurance claim purpose, photograph the damaged prints.
  2. If prints are dry and separate, use a soft brush to clean the surface.
  3. If there is heavy dirt covering the photo, soak in water and lightly wipe it away with your finger or a soft brush.
  4. If the prints are stuck together, they should peel away after soaking for around one minute.
  5. Do not try to force the photos apart because the image surface ink may peel away.
  6. After soaking in water, dry in the shade. The conditions may vary depending on the type of pigment ink.
  7. Carefully package the prints, and send to ECIH.org for scanning & restoration.
